Keeping on top of training is a high priority for Astra Security
Last week saw some members of the Astra Security team take time out to focus on Emergency First Aid at Work. The course, run by the Building Safety Group, is a one-day training course designed for those people appointed to take charge in the event of an emergency in the workplace. The course is refreshed every year.
On the course, the Astra team members learnt how to:
- Summon the emergency services
- Provide basic first aid treatment for both conscious and unconscious casualties
- Conduct the necessary duties in the aftermath phase of an accident in the workplace
The course attendees from Astra were Julia Evans, Stephanie Pinker, Carl Andrews and Mason Davies.
Julia said:
“We all had an interesting day at BSG. It was a very hands-on course and involved lots of practical manouvres such as the recovery position as well as new potential spinal injury recovery positions.”
She went on to say:
“We also learnt how to operate a defibrillator along with other first aid skills which are not only invaluable in the workplace, but also in day-to-day life also.”
Rob Dyer (Principal Safety Adviser) at BSG said:
“Here at BSG, we aim to drive continuous improvement in health, safety and environmental performance by providing high quality training. I’m delighted that Astra Security are investing in development and training in this area for their staff.”
