“A solution was needed that secured the Clubhouse, whilst still allowing members access….”

We’ve recently completed a security installation system at one of Bristol’s oldest golf clubs –  Shirehampton Park, which is located on the outskirts of the city, several hundred feet above the river Avon!

Our brief came in from the Club Chairman, who explained that their existing security system wasn’t really working for them.  He needed a more flexible system, which could keep the Clubhouse secure, whilst still allowing members access to restricted areas of the building.

Steve Rees, Senior Project Manager at Astra said, “The previous system allowed staff to speak to members and visitors through the intercom, but it didn’t allow them access. This meant that the Club struggled to oversee and manage the flow of people that needed access to the Club.”

The engineers at Astra came up with a flexible and effective solution – to fit a new Intercom system along with integrated Access Control. This allows members to use their membership cards to gain access to the building when they need to. On top of that, the Intercom gives staff quick and convenient communication, using audio handsets located in the administration office and bar area, so when a visitor makes a call, it’s much easier to deal with.

Steve continued to say, “The Access Control system we have used allows easy importation of the Club’s existing membership database into the system, so it’s been a very smooth transition for all involved.”
