Our entry into the Green Team gets out gardening as part of National Volunteer Week

Yesterday, a team from Astra Security Ltd, based in Bristol, offered their support by volunteering for a local charitable trust – Milestones Trust.

Milestones Trust supports people with learning disabilities, mental health challenges, dementia and complex behavioural needs in Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire.

The volunteers, made up of a team of 4, are part of a team who are focused on delivering sustainability for the company. They went along to ‘the move-on project’ Chestnut Road, which is a supported living project in Downend, Bristol. The day was spent doing a variety of gardening duties including digging out borders, making hanging baskets, painting fencing, and generally tidying up the outside space.

Paul Beet, Managing Director at Astra said:

“It’s really important to give our time to support communities. Being here at this project and meeting some of the residents today makes it so worthwhile, as  you can really see the difference we are making and more importantly what it means to them first-hand.”

Jess from Milestones Trust said:

“We’re absolutely thrilled to see the volunteers here today. By giving their time, it allows us to concentrate on the jobs we absolutely need to do – providing the excellent support that the residents need to enable them to have fulfilling lives.”

She continued:

“We want to say a huge thank you to the team from Astra for helping out, and also for their generous donation of plants.”

Supporting local communities is an important part of the ethos at Astra Security Ltd, as they understand the importance of giving something back. As a result, they support a number of charitable and fundraising initiatives across the region.
